Miami is served by Miami International Airport located 7 miles from downtown Miami. To reach the train station, rental car agencies and bus stations use the free MIA Mover, an automated electrical train that connects the airport terminals with the central station. The Mover is located on the 3rd level between the Dolphin and Flamingo garage. 


The easiest and cheapest way of getting from the airport to Miami is by getting on the Metrorail train. There are two lines (Green, Orange) connecting Miami city station with the airport. The train ride costs just $2.25 and gets you there in just under 30 minutes. To travel with the train you have to buy an EASY card at the ticket vending machines located at the airport. 


If you are going to Miami Beach then grabbing the Miami Beach Bus is your cheapest bet. The 40 minute ride will cost you $2.25. The bus is located at the Central station, a short Mover ride from the airport.


Taxis are readily available at the airport and it’s the quickest and most convenient way of getting from the airport directly to your destination. The 15 minute taxi ride cost around $35 and will get you directly to your hotel without any hassle.

The electric metromover tram operates from Brickell to Downtown, stopping at a few popular stations Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Adrienne Arsht Center and Bayfront Park near the Bayside Marketplace. The metromover is free and is a simple way to explore the city. 


Another free option is the trolley’s tha run every 15 minutes and cover the Miami Beach area from Downtown with connections to the metromover and metrorail. 


Metrorail covers over 25 miles of Miami-Dade’s most populated areas with 23 stations stretching from Hialeah to Dadeland. Trains run until 11pm on weekdays and until midnight on weekends. A single ticket cost $2.25


There are over 95 bus routes in Miami, however due to the hectic traffic and irregular schedules of the buses, if you’re traveling in the city center the buses are best to avoid. But if you want to travel from the city to Miami Beach, there is an express bus line that is good to utilize. 


Your best option when it comes to taxis is Uber or calling a traditional taxi. Hailing one on the street can be harder with the busy and fast paced traffic if you’re outside the downtown area.
